Katy Perry e i The Weeknd seguono con 5 nomination ciascuno.

Le precedenti categorie “Best Female Video” e “Best Male Video” sono state unificate nella categoria “Artist of the Year”.

A partire da oggi i fan residenti negli Stati Uniti possono votare le 8 categorie dei VMA, che comprendono tra le altre “Video of the Year”, “Artist of the Year” e “Best Collaboration” su www.vma.mtv.com.
